Hi, I heard a story on NPR that mentioned your name and that you're involved in doing Peace Strategies training in CPS. I googled your name and came up with this webpage, I hope you don't think that's too weird! I currently work as a bilingual teacher and for a long time I've been interested in getting involved with non-violence training, but have not been able to find anything like that in Chicago. I would love if you could give me some info about what organization you're working with or how I can get involved. Thank you!

Hey Justin,
You should make a plan to come to the farm in the fall. The trees are b-u-ti-ful, that's my Gomer Powell impersonation.

Once apon a time I had a homeboy named Justin Richardson, that came to the farm and ate apples with me. Apple we picked from the orchard. This guy Justin loved the mountains. Honestly, he happened to be one of the few Black dudes I know that enjoyed sleeping in a tent. But, that was long long long ago. The End

Im doing well my friend, just getting things finalized for our Violence Prevention Resource Fair next Wed. I'm glad you'll be working with Felipe on some stuff... and with all that's going on maybe the three of us can work on some projects and make it a big coalition of young folks... nah? Glad the training went well. The SWYC is a great place for the youth... some very sharp leaders in the making right there... They are ready to "get up, get out and do something!" Hope to hear from ya soon!

The funniest thing at camp to me was looking through the window, realizing that you had actually slept by the fire all night/morning. LOL!

Glad you all enjoyed camp!

The Gathering’s Mission

The mission of The Gathering is to build an Intergenerational, movement, rooted in history, cultures and non-violent direct action to heal communities, build collective strength and generate an environment of hope and opportunity.

Civil rights and social justice organizations have come to understand that collective action on a national basis is required to stop child incarceration and challenge the immoral process which perpetuates an unjust justice system. These groups are working under extremely difficult circumstances and many of them with little or no resources. The Gathering is a national movement that creates a coordinated space to 1) fortify relationships between regional groups, 2) support local endeavors and 3) enhance the ongoing organizing of non-violent direct action training. Central to its mission is strengthening our moral environment.
