When "We the People" speak and don't take no for an answer, things change. Why? Because, "We the People" is a force to be respected and in some cases feared. Whether the call is "No taxation - without representation, or the French eating cake with Marie, "We the people" of any country or community is the key to peace. Ghandi said it accurately, 200,000 foriegners (The British in that case), cannot control a country of 500 million, if those people don't want them to. Any military would hate to fire upon the very people they are sworn to protect; especially if the world was watching.
The people of Gaza and Israel must first understand that violence solves nothing. If the people of Gaza want to stop the Hamas rockets from leaving Gaza, they must insist on that. It's like a gang moved into your neighborhood and started shooting at their enemies from your backyard. Your house will get shot up with the returning fire.
If only we could say, Stop hitting me, I'll stop hitting you.
But what happens in a few years; a new generation of fighters emerge. You can't have peace when "Religious Leaders" are today telling their millions of followers to hurt and kill in the name of God. And if you don't fight, you and your family will go to HELL, forever....
If the people in Gaza, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Afganistan, Syria, Lebanon, Cashmere, many countries in Africa and South America and so many others; if they want to accept a basic Leadership and Human Rights Declaration of Independence, we should support them. We should help detail the minimum responsibilities of leadership and outline some basic human rights and if they (The We, in We the People), want peace in their lifetime, they will stand up to their government, with the world watching and Stop the Maddness. Which is crazier, leaders building multiple palaces with all the trimmings while their people starve and are illiterate or continuing to fight a 3000 year old religious war that can have no winner?
The People must say STOP.... and it will stop..... The only thing stopping them now is heavy guilt from generations of traditions and doing things a certain way and fear of reprisal.
Force their leadership to remember the lessons of Saddam, Miloskovich, Hitler, Amin and more? They once, had it all; the money, the power, the toys and all the perks money can buy. These people lived in palaces, ate the best foods, drove nice cars and had the respect of many; where are they now? Gone.... Remember Saddam crawling out of a hole, that was done using violence...
What we are talking about is non-violence..... The people sign a Leadership Human Rights oath and walk up to the capital and declare their freedom from oppression, with the world documenting every step.... The People demand a new way of doing things, where they can better benefit. Countries who sign must abide by the rules and doing so will benefit in many ways....
In many countries, the military is used by leadership to stop the process; by law make them impotent to do so again. The leadership may NOT call on the military to police its' citizens but the citizens can use the military to police the government. The job of the military is to protect and defend its' citizens.
And perhaps we should start by cleaning up our own house. Leaders who greatly benefit from their tenure in office should be prosecuted and disgraced. If someone in a leadership position profits from a war, that person should be investigated. If my name were Dick Cheney and if I gave faulty intelligence to people so that we could invade a country, so that my former company could make a trillion dollars, I should be prosecuted. Failure to do so sends a message to the world of how business is done in America. My next piece is how the billionares of the world can preserve their place in World History by creating models to help countries turn the poor, homeless, malnutritioned, uneducated into buyers and taxpayers.
