A place where everybody is your cousin and every momma is yours too

I come from a place where we dance to the to the beats that rise from the concrete
And sound vibrates from the tweeters in the heavy chevys

I come from a place where peanut butter and jelly is more then a sandwich
A place where if you hungry somebody will give you something to eat if you ask

I come from a place where the cords in the church music are the same as the ones in the juke joint
And nobody argues about if the melody is Godly

I come from a place where spaghetti is a side dish
And all the juice left in the pot is called liquor

I come from a place where women plant side gardens
And everybody is good for some drank of soda water

I come from a place where people eat leaves for medicine
And the numbers 7 and 11 are as important as the 1st and the 15th

I come from a place where you cook with onions
And having a big ole onion is real a ass–set

I come from a place close to Memphis and Mississippi
