Rhythms rise from drums, turntables and pounding feet, as poets, emcees, breakdancers, musicians, singers and visual artists move together to create a breathtaking and engaging performance experience for audiences of all ages. Our dynamic blend of professional performers and outstanding young artists inspire and challenge each other to create fresh new work while honoring our roots. TRANSIT ARTS Performance Group features BHB, Dionne, Jai Carey, LyriQ, Balance, Antonio, Keith "Speak" Williams, Richard "Duarte" Brown, Sam Taylor, and a host of guest artists.
TRANSIT ARTS, based at Central Community House (www.cchouse.org) provides outstanding arts programs, performances, exhibitions, and entrepreneurial opportunities for youth, while celebrating the vitality of our urban environment. Workshops, based throughout the seven sites of the Columbus Federation of Settlements, are FREE for all central Ohio teens!
TRANSIT ARTS (www.transitarts.com), artists on the move, performs and exhibits work throughout the community at venues as diverse as: The Columbus Museum of Art, Riverfest, The Wexner Center for the Arts, The King Arts Complex, Columbus Metropolitan Library Main Library, Actors' Theatre (Shakespeare in Schiller Park), Central Community House, The Old National Road Festival, Weinland Park Community Celebration, Veterans Memorial MLK Celebration, Sawyer Recreation Center, the African American Male Wellness Walk and more.
TRANSIT ARTS activities are made possible through support from *The Franklin County Commissioners through the Greater Columbus Arts Council, The Nationwide Foundation, The Reinberger Foundation, The J. Ray and Lillian W. Waller Fund of The Columbus Foundation, the Ohio Arts Council, and individual contributors.
