CIRCLE OF LIFE

I play in the circle of life
to the heart beat of the Cosmos
This circle is never ending
never beginning and never broken
I can not enter with artificial tokens
of what I think I am
my pride can not enter
my ego can not enter
because in this circle center
all reason dissolves
and I evolve
Playing with dualities that
are seeking harmony
I realize that truth is a
process and not a destination
so in this circle I recieve
my true education
with each blow that is
thrown and lands
I have to adapt and overcome
as the cosmos demands
in this circle I am no higher
than a blade of grass
and no lower than its roots
and I feel my connection to all things
for this is the circles eternal truth
in this circle I experience
what it means to just be
by experiencing who and what I am
I finally become Free

Everywhere I go

The good thing about being in The Gathering. That everytwhere I go I run into someone involved with the Gathering. This is a good thing because thats how I know that the work that we set out is being done. It actually makes it easier when I'm walking into a unknown place and standing somewhere in the building or city I have family there because of my connection with the gathering.
For example I am at a conference in Kansas City, I walk into the conference hall and "low and behold" I run into the… Continue

Poetry night

Sittting gettin my mind ready for poetry night. Im thinking about the work we have to do and how we are going to raise the funds and the minds to get it done. A thought came to me in the sweat lodge at Simba "What if God is the moment?".. if this is a possibility how many times have we wasted God, how many times have we blown God, how many times have we sat in a stuper as God flowed threw us and our life.

Simba Circle & The EC of the Gathering

The Simba Nation was Glad to host The EC of the Gathering. I was not able to attend most of the meeting because I had to help run the Nation. We only had 61 Simbas this year, but we were able to greet our guest with our usual energy and power. The EC got right to work when they hit the camp. The info I was able to tune into was about setting up the structure for the Gathering. This is a little more difficult than usual because the structure being proposed is a more organic model. The only way I… Continue

Rhyme with No Reason?
By: Curly X

This poem is dedicated to Oscar Grant and the other Oscar Grant’s

Bullets piercing the bodies of my people,
I thought the constitution said we are all equal.

Puppets in this world voicing our sad stories,
Eyeballs filled with sanction killings by police sissies.

When will the shooting stop from the hired guns,
Good men die while marksmen freely run.

Mothers hanging on to the last breath of there child,
Minutes go by and she grows more, wild.

Murders are banging Her heart to death,
Riots seem old, it outgrows the poor, and defiles.

Bigots were crushed by the hands of peaceful men,
Cries didn’t come from guns, but from there mouth and pen.

Lead an army of soldiers with guns and rocks, and we will be crushed,
Because violence begets violence, when we are rushed.

Heal our broken hearts with sage and gospel song,
The real ordeal is to fix the pain of wrong.

Forgive and forget, seems to far fetch,
But I promise, you,
Brother Killing Brother, Sister Killing Sister,
Others shooting others to enact revenge,
Its like rhyme with no reason, it doesn’t end.

I want to thank Paradise, for being my inspiration. I hope that our words reach Oakland, and we can be there for them, and heal, organize, and do things the right way. Because you and I know, riots are what the oppressor wants. It gives them a reason to oppress. Destroy the violence, and they have no tools against us.

About

The Gathering’s Mission

The mission of The Gathering is to build an Intergenerational, movement, rooted in history, cultures and non-violent direct action to heal communities, build collective strength and generate an environment of hope and opportunity.

Civil rights and social justice organizations have come to understand that collective action on a national basis is required to stop child incarceration and challenge the immoral process which perpetuates an unjust justice system. These groups are working under extremely difficult circumstances and many of them with little or no resources. The Gathering is a national movement that creates a coordinated space to 1) fortify relationships between regional groups, 2) support local endeavors and 3) enhance the ongoing organizing of non-violent direct action training. Central to its mission is strengthening our moral environment.
