It is time for collective action. If we continue to claim territory verses acknowledging our responsibility we will remain in a state of mental poverty. Lets come together so that we may meet the demand for training.

Spread the word next year we are all going to drop on New York on September 21st, 2010 to Celebrate the International Day of Peace to high light the atrocities that our youth face globally. We are calling for an international coalition to call for the 21st CENTURY to be know as the GLOBAL CENTURY OF NONVIOLENCE. The 2oth century was our most violent and look where we are. WE MUST BECOME THAT CHANGE.

it is very inspiring for such decision and despite the fact that I am not present to participate where you are but I am in soliderity with your actions. I will share the concerns and actions with my people and staff in my organisation in Sudan, where we also experience alot social, political and structural injustice on which we work right now.

Through Organizations I have been involved with, I find that issues they have trouble with are getting everyone on the same page for advocacy. Everyone takes part in a group for a reason and sometimes people are not open to working together on projects one at a time because everyone feels their project is most important but if they think about it all projects will work more effective if the group as a whole takes part and it will be easier to get more accomplished working unified.
Just my 2 cents,

There is too much separation from violence and things happening in society. Too many people that do not wish to get involved. "Where is the Love?" is a song that speaks truth. Where are the parents? Who/what is supporting our children's interests in learning? When I was a kid children would hang out in neighborhoods and played together. Now, there is such a separation and so many levels of society that are not stated but implied through people's actions. There is so much to assume and so much that people imply that no one really knows their neighbors anymore.

Just thinking,

How do we get America to stop a pay attention to the murder rate in Chicago. I spoke with a women on a plane the other day about how dangerous it is in Chicago and she responded, "why don't they just move?" This is like , during the 50's & 60's, telling African -Americans to go back to Africa if they don't like the way they are being treated.

How can we get relief for the youth in Chicago?

How would you get the countries attention in accordance with the Principles and Steps of Kingian Nonviolence? Do you see a different course of action that would be successful? lets brainstorm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was once told that Jesus is Love, Love is Justice, and Justice is Action!!!!!!!!!!! What do you think?

before the end of the week talk to a local organization and find out what their issue is and what/how they are trying to address the root cause of their issue. if not write about what you have been working on or struggling with trying to figure out. Together maybe we can come up with a solution.

Maybe you could help in some way

About

The Gathering’s Mission

The mission of The Gathering is to build an Intergenerational, movement, rooted in history, cultures and non-violent direct action to heal communities, build collective strength and generate an environment of hope and opportunity.

Civil rights and social justice organizations have come to understand that collective action on a national basis is required to stop child incarceration and challenge the immoral process which perpetuates an unjust justice system. These groups are working under extremely difficult circumstances and many of them with little or no resources. The Gathering is a national movement that creates a coordinated space to 1) fortify relationships between regional groups, 2) support local endeavors and 3) enhance the ongoing organizing of non-violent direct action training. Central to its mission is strengthening our moral environment.
